Instructor Courses are as follows:

Apnea Total Instructor Course (ATIC)
An intensive 4 to 5-week program designed for experienced freedivers who wish to become certified Apnea Total Instructors. Successful candidates will be qualified to teach up to the Advanced Freediver level 2.

Instructor certifications are divided into two levels:

  • Instructor Level 1 – certified to teach the Freediver Course only

  • Instructor Level 2 – certified to teach both Freediver and Advanced Freediver Courses

The Apnea Total Instructor Course (ATIC) is a transformational journey designed for serious freedivers who are ready to step into the role of mentor, guide, and educator. This course doesn’t just prepare you to teach, it prepares you to lead, to inspire, and to share the spirit of freediving with integrity and confidence.

With small group sizes, you’ll receive close mentorship and personalized training. You'll dive deep into the science, psychology, and methodology of freediving education, and emerge with the tools to teach both beginner and advanced courses with clarity, safety, and passion.

This isn’t just a certification, it’s the beginning of your life as a professional freediving instructor.

Course Structure:

Weeks 1–2: Foundations of Great Teaching

  • In-depth theory and methodology of Freediver & Advanced Freediver Courses

  • How to present and structure effective classroom sessions

  • Advanced physiology – understanding the systems behind performance

  • Psychology of stress and how to support students in overcoming fear

  • The art of influencing, motivating, and guiding students

  • Freediving coaching techniques for progress and confidence

  • Water-based teaching workshops with close supervision

Weeks 3–4: Practical Experience & Real Student Teaching

  • Supervised team-teaching alongside experienced instructors

  • Required: Teach a minimum of 2 Freediver Courses and 1 Advanced Course

  • Learn to adapt your teaching to different personalities and learning styles

  • Gain real-world experience managing students in open water

  • Feedback sessions to continuously refine your teaching voice and leadership presence

    Instructor Level 1 Only – 35,000 THB
    It is possible to enroll in Instructor Level 1 only, which includes certification to teach both the Freediver Course and Static Apnea sessions. The total cost for this option is 35,000 THB.

Requirements for Instructor Level 1 – Freediver Course
This is the entry-level instructor certification within the Apnea Total Educational System. To enroll in the Apnea Total Instructor Course (ATIC) Level 1, candidates must meet the following prerequisites:

  • Completed the Master Freediver Course with Apnea Total, or an equivalent level from another recognized freediving organization. Crossovers from other systems must be approved by the Instructor Trainer or Course Director conducting the ATIC.

  • Comfortable diving to at least 35 meters using the Constant Weight (CWT) technique.

  • Able to consistently freedive to 30 meters without a long breath-up.

  • Achieve a Static Apnea time of at least 4 minutes and 30 seconds.

  • Pass a stamina test: 6 x 20m CWT bi-fin swims with a 1-minute surface interval.

  • Successfully perform a 25-meter rescue using the face sandwich technique.

    Requirements for Instructor Level 2 – Advanced Freediver Course
    To become certified to teach the Advanced Freediver Course, candidates must fulfill the following prerequisites:

    • Completed the Master Freediver Course with Apnea Total, or an equivalent course from another recognized freediving organization. Crossovers must be approved by the Instructor Trainer or Course Director overseeing the ATIC.

    • Comfortable diving to at least 40 meters using the Constant Weight (CWT) technique.

    • Able to consistently freedive to 30 meters without a long breath-up.

    • Achieve a Static Apnea time of at least 4 minutes and 30 seconds.

    • Pass a stamina test: 6 x 20m CWT bi-fin swims with a 1-minute surface interval.

    • Successfully perform a 25-meter rescue using the face sandwich technique.

Master Instructor Course (MIC)
A 4 to 5-week intensive program for certified instructors who already teach up to the Advanced Freediver level. This course qualifies participants to teach the Master Freediver Course and grants the title of Master Instructor or Instructor Level 3

Requirements for Master Instructor – Apnea Total
To qualify for the Master Instructor Course, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Have been an Apnea Total Instructor for at least 2 years.

  • Have consistently taught freediving courses in the 12 months prior to enrollment.

  • Successfully taught a minimum of 100 Freediver students.

  • Successfully taught at least 50 Advanced Freediver students.

  • Capable of diving to 45 meters using Constant Weight Bi-Fins (CWT).

  • Capable of diving to 30 meters using Constant Weight No Fins (CNF).

  • Be an Apnea Total Instructor in good standing, with current BLS (Basic Life Support) and O2 Provider certifications.

Apnea Total Instructor Trainer Course (ATITC)
An intensive program for Master Instructors who want to become Instructor Trainers. This course qualifies participants to lead Instructor Courses and certify new instructors up to Instructor Level 2.

Master Instructor Trainer Course (MITC)
An advanced intensive program for Instructor Trainers who wish to train and certify instructors to become Master Instructors. This course represents the highest level of the Apnea Total education system.
